Eugenics is a movement that aims to improve the human race’s genetic composition (Pence, 2021). To achieve these ends, eugenicists have advocated for selective breeding. Modern technology makes it possible to alter a person’s genetic makeup more precisely. Despite this, folk’s ideas on the finest and most ethical ways to employ this technology vary (Pence, 2021). In In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a scientific method that deals with genetics and eugenics (IVF). IVF is a kind of assisted reproduction. This procedure is carried out by obtaining eggs, obtaining a sperm specimen, and then physically combining the two in a laboratory. Transferring the embryo into the uterus is the last step in the process. One of the most successful forms of aided reproductive technology, IVF, is available. A couple’s eggs and sperm may be used in operation. A known or unidentified donor may also be used for IVF. Individuals who are unable to conceive naturally may benefit from the use of IVF. Many of my friends have had successful pregnancies via In-Vitro Fertilization. When a couple is unsuccessful in their efforts to conceive spontaneously, it may discourage them from trying. Couples are placed in a vulnerable position by the pain of infertility. They are confronted with an overwhelming number of options when seeking advice on how to avoid a life without children. The right thing to do may not always be obvious, depending on the circumstances. The most common kind of assisted reproductive technology is in vitro fertilization.

The ethical theory that supports pro-eugenics is the Deontology theory. The ethical theory of deontology uses rules to discern between what is right and what is wrong. The philosopher Immanuel Kant is often mentioned in connection with deontology. Ethics, according to Kant, should be guided by universal moral principles. People’s intrinsic dignity – something that is basic to and possessed in equal proportion by all people – gives rise to a wide variety of moral rights and duties because of their status as “persons.”

Hello class, the scientific technique and practice related to genetics and eugenics has vastly grown in recent years. This research greatly impacts the development of new technology advances towards creating new cures for diseases. This would greatly improve the way medical professionals can treat diseases and illnesses. However, the technique and practice related to eugenics and genetics creates new ethical problems that have not been around previously. Although the genetic and eugenic practice could benefit many different areas of medicine, it brings issues of misuse and could potentially become a lethal situation. My thoughts on this ethical issue is that it is beneficial, however, it would most likely be abused by higher ups as well as individuals. It could cause problems us as citizens have never dealt with or would be able to deal with quickly enough.

I would relate this issue to virtue ethics. This theory emphasizes that moral behavior should represent virtues and qualities of an individual’s character. Aristotle believed that character traits and types of people are more important than rules, obligations and rights. This relates to prenatal testing since many of the outcomes of the procedure end in terminated pregnancies due to an unwanted outcome. We should value each other as human beings and recognize the importance of our character and morality/values when making ethical judgments.
