St Peters College Lymphedema Clinic Discussion Responses

Description

Catherine-

My research question is; What measures can be taken based on evidence-based literature to improve quality care, patient satisfaction and efficiency in the lymphedema clinic? My goal is to conserve time, have the clinic run more efficient and increase quality of appointments. My key words I will be searching ambulatory setting, clinic operations, and patient satisfaction indicators. Synonyms will include outpatient, office, appointments, surveys, performance, effectiveness, accommodating, comfort, quality, and procedures.

Craig-

The St Petersburg online library as well as the physical one will probably have everything one is looking for to be able to do their annotated bibliography. The tricky part is knowing is how and where to look, to be able to find the right information. That’s where the people that work there can be of great benefit in helping you find the information and also fine toon your work. From past experiences, Josh Brown and Shilo Smith have a wealth of knowledge in helping you getting things done the right way. Part of a search strategy would be to use some of the information provided through the course as well as reaching out to the people I mentioned earlier. My Topic or thesis statement would be something along the lines of: Identify what barriers do seniors encounter with their medical care and what are some possible solutions that can be done to help address these problems. Some of the main areas to focus that will provide the most pertinent information will be looking into databases that have Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) such as CINAHL Complete (EBSCO), Medline, Cochrane Library (Wiley), etc. (St Petersburg College, 2020). These should also include peer reviewed articles and journals. In the library search you can filter many of these aspects to even the times lines we are looking for, such as with the last 5 years, as we need for our project. Some key words that can be used to help narrow down my searches are: Seniors, barriers, care. Other words that can be used to help find information can be: elderly, old, 65 y/o and up, walls, obstacles, difficulties, struggles, complications, health care, medical care, etc. All of these words will help find articles that contain these words and make my search more efficient in finding the information related to my topics.
